Hi, How ya doin?
First of all, thank you for taking the time to read my FIRST POST here on blogger.com! I was told this was a great place to post and find info, so I'm giving it shot here. We'll see how it goes.
As you know, the music business is full of entrepreneurs. This artist started his own resturant, this own his own label, this one his own clothing line or fragrance line. Why not? I would, and I have (sorta).
For those of you who don't know me, which should be most of you, my name is Joe. I am the owner of an up and coming music entertainment group in Akron, OH. We feature DJ, karaoke, and a "just getting starting" independent record label. So with all this already on my plate, why would I take on something else? Because I'm an artist. And I have to. Not because all the big names have done it. But because I have a need to express myself. And what better way to do that, and get my company name/products/art out there then to do it with something everyone likes and wants. What is that, you ask? Okay you probably didn't ask. T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, Hoodies. I see more people in the department stores looking at these items more than anything else, and of course they would be. Everybody wears them, and your shirt is the most noticeable article of clothing that you wear. Let's face it, you could probably get away with wearing the same pair of jeans for a week straight and no one would know the difference. Well, they would if they had designs/patterns...or if you started to stink. But you couldn't wear the same shirt without someone saying something. So what do you do...buy more, and buy different.
Too bad the stores don't always have something different. I could probably walk into the store I bought a shirt from last year, and it will still be there on the shelf, maybe a little cheaper than when I bought it, but still there. And you know that there has got to be at least ten people within 5 miles of that store that has that same identical shirt, right? Usually not a problem, it happens. But, hey, hows about having access to numberous designs you won't see in every store around the corner? And...how 'bout knowing that these shirt's are exactly the way the designer designed it, without the overseeing eye of the head shirt maker? Uncensored and artistic work made to order. I like that Idea and apparently alot of others do too.
Needless to say now, but yes, I opened up an online t-shirt shop featuring designs made exclusively for and by us at Poni-X Productions, through a site called CafePress.com. It was the easiest thing I have done with my company so far. All I had to do was sign up, make a few designs and voila! Up and running. I have to watch myself though. I get so wrapped up in making designs, I get sidetracked from the rest of the biz. But, don't worry, I still keep control.
Anyway, anyone can do this. It's pretty cool making your own stuff and seeing it on a t-shirt.
oh, and if you would like to open your own store and make your own designs (and some money as well) just go to http://www.cafepress.com/
